Jinglian Space, Wulin Academy of Arts, Hangzhou
The Jinglian Space is a redecorated space within a 1920s Shikumen building that sits on the shores of West Lake, Hangzhou. In May 2017, Chen Fankuan was commissioned by the Wulin Academy of Arts to design the new interior feature of its previous archive rooms and supervise the construction quality.
Chen transformed the original archive rooms into a multifunctional space for academic meeting and tea ceremony in the style of the Southern Song Dynasty. He has also worked with a research team from the China Academy of Art to produce porcelains based on the cultural relics and paintings of the Southern Song Dynasty. The new space was opened in August 2017.
