As the research fellow at Wulin Academy of Arts, a research institution devoted to the comparative and interdisciplinary study of Chinese arts and culture, Chen Fankuan is involved in ongoing research that centres around epigraphy, hermeneutics and the history of Chinese landscape painting. He was the project leader of the National Innovative Training Program from 2018 to 2019, funded by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China.
